Behringer To Give Selected Beta Testers a FREE Wave Synthesizer
Rounik Sethi on Sun, August 16th 1 comments
If you own an original PPG Wave synthesizer and would like to get hands on with the beta model coming from synthesizer powerhouse maker, Behringer, then start clearing desk space in your studio.

The original PPG Wave 2 from the early 80's was an analog/digital hybrid synthesizer that uses "digital samples of wavetables and feature analog VCA envelope and VCF (filter) sections for a classic and warm sound." (Vintagesynth.com).

It could go deeper with wave-editing adding more complexity thanks to the digital control panel. Additionally, there'it came with an 8-track sequencer with plenty of automation abilities and real-time possibilities.

Behringer are bringing the Wave back. That's not a big surprise really given their push to reincarnate a wide range of popular and iconic classic synthesizers from yesteryear. The exicting news is that Behringer are looking for beta testers to get hands-on with their early synth models to help bring it to market.

Here's what Uli Behringer wrote on Facebook this morning in the Synthesizer Freaks Facebook group:

We’re looking for beta testers.
As we’re making great progress with our Wave synth, we’re now looking for beta testers who want to help us test the unit and meet the following “must have” criteria:
- You own an original Wave 2.2 or 2.3
- You have deep synth and technical experience
- You’re willing to create videos
In return we’ll reward you with a free unit.
If you’re interested please drop us a note at [email protected]
Thank you.

If you're interested, we'd recommend emailing sooner rather than later. As with many of Uli Behringer's posts in various synth groups, this one after just 3 hours is already gathering a lot of interest...

I hope it will allow custom user tables to be uploaded. The Synthesis Technology E352 allows custom user tables via WaveEdit software & SD card and it's AMAZING to play with jaggy waveforms I made using a laptop mouse pad! lol I uploaded user created PPG waves AND popular eurorack module tables too. Behringer should definitely consider this.
