Hollin Jones on Mon, January 15th 0 comments
Rishabh Rajan is here to show you how to use the powerful sequencer on Roland's latest Boutique hardware synth, with all its twists and turns.

A collaborative effort between Roland and Studio Electronics, the SE-02 is the debut product of the new Roland Boutique Designer Series. It uses authentic discrete analog circuitry to create a synthesizer with a distinctly vintage sound and vast programming options. But where to start? In this short video from the course ROLAND BOUTIQUE 105: SE-02 Explained and Explored, Rishabh Rajan gives you a hands-on demonstration of how to use the sequencer on this powerful hardware synth.

With 128 preset sequences there's plenty go help get you started but Rishabh shows you how to separate patches from sequences to play any sequence using any sound. Exploring the Note, Gate, and Step controls you'll see how to quickly program, edit and tweak all kinds of cool sounding sequences on the hardware. You can even do things like assigning different cutoff values to different steps - learn how, and much more about this Boutique synth with the rest of the videos in the course.

ROLAND BOUTIQUE 105: SE-02 Explained and Explored

Like Master Yoda once said: “Size matters not!” And like the Jedi Master himself, the Roland SE-02 is indeed very small, but extremely powerful! But you don't need to learn to use the Force to master this analog mono synth ... Just watch this course by Master Synthesis Rishabh Rajan!

In these tutorials, Rishabh takes you through every knob, switch and control of the SE-02. First, you get an overview of the Minimoog-inspired interface. You then learn about the differences between Patch Mode and Manual Mode, how to load presets and how to create and save your own patches. Next, you discover the oscillators, the Feedback and Noise controls, the 24 dB low-pass filter, and the modulators, including the cross modulation (Xmod) section which was not available on the Minimoog. You also learn about the digital delay section, and how you can use it for creative sound design, as well as the MIDI settings, Sequencer & Song mode, and a lot more…

So join our favorite synthesis expert Rishabh Rajan in this course, and see what this Analog Boutique synth by Roland and Studio Electronics can bring to your audio productions!
