Hollin Jones on Sat, August 10th 0 comments
Get complete control over your vocal takes from fine tuning to changing key using Flex Pitch in Logic. Josh Carney shows you how in this short video.

Getting the perfect vocal take can be tricky, but luckily Logic Pro has some amazing tools in its arsenal to help you tweak and edit recorded vocals to create a great end result. In this short video from the course Logic Pro X 502: Recording Vocals, Josh Carney shows you how to use the integrated Flex Pitch features in Logic to get total control over your vocal tracks.

Logic Pro X 502: Recording Vocals

Josh shows you how to switch on Flex Pitch and enter edit view so you can see your individual notes in a piano roll-style view, with each vocal note inside the audio take directly accessible and editable. You'll see how to easily move notes to new timing and pitch locations, with variable snap settings used to create either a more rigid or a more gentle correction. Josh also demonstrates how to 'cut' notes inside the editor so that you can create more advanced and complex corrections rather than simply moving a note or a collection of notes wholesale.

With Flex Pitch in Logic Pro you can make everything from subtle corrections to huge changes, even altering melodies from major to minor keys and back, or changing the entire key of a clip. It's a powerful and incredibly useful technique when working with vocals, so be sure to check out the whole course for a complete guide to recording vocals in Logic, and where Flex Pitch fits into your workflow.
