In this short video, Joe Albano explains each of Logic 10.4's new Smart Tempo modes for automatic audio analysis, as well as how and when to use them for maximum effect.

The 10.4 update to Logic Pro X - free for all existing users - brought a bunch of cool new features to Apple's flagship DAW. One of the most interesting is Smart Tempo, a whole new tool set for working with automatic tempo detection and manipulation. In this video from the course Logic Pro X 10.4 301: Smart Tempo Demystified, Joe Albano is here to show you what it does, and how it works!

As Joe explains, there are three Smart Tempo modes and each one has a specific strength based on what kind of audio you are working with. If it's completely freestyle sound that has not been recorded to any kind of click for example, or if it's been recorded at a different speed. The three modes: Keep or Adapt Project Tempo and Automatic are each covered and Joe explains how each one works as well as when you may want to use it. Be sure to check out the other videos in the course for a complete guide to all the ways in which Smart Tempo can speed up your workflow!
