We can tend as musicians and producers to focus a little too much on the gear and the processes we use to make our art, and not always enough on enjoying the fruits of our – and other peoples’- labour. Maks Histibe, a pro sound designer and film maker from Ukraine (and former Ask.Audio author) sent us news about his latest project, a short film that is a mix of cinematography and poetry with modern digital art and music. "ZHYVY" was produced using Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects, FL Studio 12 and created in cooperation with Blackmagic Design and Steadymaker who shared their latest equipment for the video production process.
You can watch the short film here.
Here’s what Maks has to say about his film.
“The film starts with a city at night and goes forward with elements of life of different characters, mainly at night time, when different thoughts and ideas come in to their minds. Some of them are musicians, some are DJs, some club heads, some strangers and underground personalities. They might look look odd and different, but it doesn't matter, because the most priceless thing is freedom and self-expression and you shoud just live. Live in your own way!”
Happily, there’s also a behind-the-scenes video that breaks down the creative process, the aims of the project and some technical detail on how it was achieved. One of the most interesting aspects is the “guerilla” approach to film-making – quickly moving around and changing angles.
