Reason 7 is deep into MIDI Madness. Watch as Reason specialist Mo Volans take you into the depths of Propellerheads' latest version of Reason and its expanded, enhanced and supercharged internal and external MIDI features.
Mo Volans is world class musician, writer and music software professional whose creative contributions include original music for TV, film and recordings. His insightful writing is featured in many of the top music technology and pro audio magazines around the world.
The nastiest new feature in Reason 7 is its ability to control external synths with MIDI. Imagine taking all those crazy internal CVs and pumping them into your favorite hardware keyboards or modular synths. Wake up! It's time to stop imagining and start learning how to do it!
Follow along as Mo takes you down the dark, MIDI "rabbit hole" unlocking and unleashing Reason's internal CV power into the the real world. It truly is a wonderland when you see all the cool and creative stuff you conjure up! And, did you know you can bring in external MIDI too? The possibilities are infinite!
First you learn how to do the all important initial setup. Then you're off to a huge collection of tutorials working with synth tips and tricks as you build up your MIDI arsenal. From there Mo gets deep into arpeggiators, MIDI controllers and how to receive and record MIDI data.
But that's just the first half of the course! Check out the course outline because there's so much more stuff here that we'd need a whole new website just to explain it! So sit back and be ready to open your mind to Reason 7's whole new world of MIDI.
Really informative tutorial. Showed me lots that I did not know was possible, especially the tutorials on the CV system.

I didn't realized all the power of Midi within Reason before completing this course. Additionally, everything looks simple the way it is explained. Well done!!

Not bad but didn't really have as much useful info as I'd expected. Had next to nothing about controlling external gear. The parts on CV were very useful though.

This course covers a lot of information. However, if you've followed Reason 6 101 - 209, then the first 22 videos will be a review of earlier concepts with examples that are common for Reason users.

This is a superb course on Reason 7 or any other version. Mo explained not only MIDI instruments routing with in the reason rack but external instruments. He explained not only the MIDI controller but external synth and drum machines. Love the part to program Maschine MIDI external interface with Kong pads.
He also explained in great details the CV out put and in puts in reason rack instruments CV splitters and mergers and touch bases with grove mixer.
Love the course, once i started could not stop until i was done to the last part.

“Cut to the chaseâ€
I get the concept of the classroom approach to this (and many other videos on the macprovideo platform) where the expert gives a round improvised view of the software or issue at hand, BUT, and here I come!
In my opinion the courses should focus on the facts and functions of the programs only and not so much on the surrounding edulcoration of the subjects or fancy personalized sometimes idle talk.
My recommendation is to write a script before hand and stick exactly to it when you record it, so the courses would be perhaps shorter and more focus.

I really enjoyed the course especially the more advanced CV techniques. Perhaps you could do some more CV based course incorporating more of the REs.
