Don't understand section of Making Electronic Dance Music
I'm on section 08. Using The Drumrack Pt. 3 and I'm at a loss. In this section he assigns a hi hat to C1 then 4 separate claps to C#1-E1. Since he has a delay setting and it's no affecting all sounds within the drumrack he illustrates how to eliminate the delay for the claps but keep it intact for just the hat. He selects all the effects then cuts them (command X...I have to use the pull down menu...the key command doesn't work for me) and then he selects the hi hat and pastes it to a small section to the right (just before where the effect chain used to be). When I try to do this nothing happens. When I try to drag it over to this small area to the right I just get an O with slash through it. I do not know how to paste because there are no options to do so. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Caml! Here's step by step how to cut the effects that are affecting the whole Drum Rack and how to paste them so they affect the closed hat only. 1. Select the last effect in the chain, in this case it's the Compressor effect. Just click on it once to select it. 2. Hold down the Shift key and select the first plugin (the EQ plugin). The whole effect chain (all 4 plugins) should now be selected. 3. Hit Command-X (or choose Edit > Cut in the menu bar) 4. Select the Hi Hat pad in the Drum Rack (the C1 pad) 5. Click once on the area before the end bracket. This is very important, if not you will paste back the effects on the whole rack. [img][/img] 6. Hit Command-V to paste the effects (or choose Edit > Paste) Voila! The effects should now affect the Hi Hat only... :) Let me know if it helps!

Thanks so much Christian. It now works! I figured out the problem was that I didn't have "show/hide" devices selected (the 3 black circles on the upper left side of Drumrack. Before, since I didn't have that opened up the area to click on before pasting was not there. So technically I was kind of doing it right before but just didn't have the unit opened up completely. I really appreciate your help! Have a great weekend!
