    Ableton rewire Sibelius with GPO
Hi, I have already connected Ableton Live 9 and Sibelius 6 (both 32bit) on a Rewire basis. Everything works fine, but I dont like General MIDI sounds from Sibelius and I would like to use GPO 4 in my sibelius file for my playback. Since GPO (or some similar things) runs, as i understand, on VST basis, probably is not possible to use GPO in slave mode (Sibelius)? or am i missing something? If this is true, is there some other option, how to use Sibelius in slave mode with GPO or some other "third party" sounds? Thanks for your possible answers in advance.

Hi rewireM, No you won't be able to use VSTs in Sibelius as Ableton is the master. Only the master application can use 3rds party plugins. What you could do is open GPO on a MIDI track in Ableton, and then set its input as your Sibelius Rewire track. So the MIDI data form Sibelius will be sent to the Ableton MIDI track with the GPO instrument on it. So in Ableton on the MIDI Track with the GPO instrument on, on the MIDI From section choose: Sibelius, and then under this choose the Sibelius track you are referring to. I hope this helps. Unfortunately I do not know Sibelius well. But this is the same way you would route MIDI from another Rewire device to Ableton.

Hi Gary, Thanks for you answer. But actually now I tried it out and it functions also in Slave mode without problems. It seems some software support use of third party plugins also in slave mode. Just as info: I read that Reaper is also one of those.

Thats good news. Sometimes you can use 3rd party effects if they are not being used in the Master, and sometimes the Master doesn't allow the use of any 3rd party effects in the Slave. Guess its different depending on the DAWs you're using. Reaper does allow you to use 3rd party plugins in slave mode. Ableton is the one that gets a bit lock down when you want to use 3rd party plugins when its in slave mode.
