I am think about purchasing a new Mac Mini for Cubase 6. The MacBook Pro I am using is the older generation and therefore limited to only 2 GB of RAM, (unless someone knows otherwise) thus I cannot run Cubase in 64 bit. I am thinking of going with the 2.4 Ghz chip rather than the 2.66 unless it will make a difference. Does anyone have experience with this computer and if so, please tell me what you think. Hi Fred, I don;t have direct experience with the Mac Mini Core2Duo version, but have heard many users have been satisfied with it's performance. Things to bear in mind are that Core2Duo chips are now older generation Inter chips. The new MacBookPro's were released yesterday and the 15" and 17" come with Quad Core i7 chips... (these particular ones are two generations advanced from the Core2Duo). The iMac's are also much more powerful and would be worth considering. I'd also recommend buying extra ram from somewhere like crucial.com. It's almost half the price compared to buying from Apple. The processor speed will make a difference, and is something you can't really upgrade after the purchase... personally I'd look into the iMacs or MBP's... which although more expensive and more current and should last you longer if you're running large projects in Cubase. On that note I have just experienced a terrible issue with Duo Core 2Ghz MacBook Pro with 2 gz RAM running Cubase 6. My project has 2 midi tracks and one guitar track with no plugins. White recording a vocal track with compression and pitch correction, the system is breaking down. I am getting constant CPU overload warning messages, and there is tremendous delay between the performance and the monitoring thereof. I've tried to ajust the buffer size to no avail as well change the clock from device to mac with no resolution. Any suggestions? I am shocked that this is all I can record. What good is it? Fred

Hi Fred, What instrument plugins are you using? The Core Duo were the first intel chips used by Apple... and really the Core2Duo are so much better! Do you get the same performance running Logic or Garageband? What version of OSX do you have? How much free disk space? Are you recording to the internal drive or to a fast external drive over firewire? Thanks R

None, no instruments pugins. I have 2 midi tracks outputting to external hardware. I also have one guitar audio track which is being processed by outside hardware. When I record the vocal track I am inserting Cubase compression and pitch correction. That's it. I tried an experiment, changing to my other MacBook Pro, which has 8 GB of ram and the I7 chip, it is brand new. I also turned off the preference selection "warn on overload or something like that." I find it is better but there still is a delay in the vocal output compared to the input with the inserts on. When they are turned off there is no delay. Fred
