I can hear midi played through Halion Sonic SE but despite arming the track for record it won't record midi data when I press record on the transport panel. I am not using a midi keyboard (using a mouse) and am only using the default Windows ASIO driver (Win7) as I am travelling and have no external sound card with me. I have reset Preferences in Cubase 7.5 to default. Any tips please?

The answer to my problem was don't use the mouse on the Halion Sonic SE keyboard - midi recorded fine if use either a real midi keyboard or the Transport Panel virtual keyboard.
