Re: importing .MID files to GB
Hi, Here's your GarageBand song. It sounds good to me. Tell me if everything is all right. I just hope you have the latest GarageBand version (GB 08) if not you won't be able to open it. If not, tell me and we'll find another way. Keep in mind that the file I uploaded is compressed (.zip) so you will need to double-click it to decompress it. Re: importing .MID files to GB
Bonjours Christian, Thank you so much for setting this up in Garage Band for me. Please tell me how you did that and how you managed to unjumble the rhythm section. The song is all there but the sounds are nothing like the ones in my Korg. Could that mean that there is still something wrong in the transfer or is this where I would have to begin learning how to edit in GB? The drums for example should be a soft brush on the snare and not the beat that is in GB now. When I had tried to upload from a floppy before it was a jumbled up mess. It was also the same when I tried from my keyboard through the midi of my firepod. Would it be possible for me to send you the song in mp3 format from my itunes so you could see the difference? Maybe then you could direct me to the right path in order to make the necessary changes. If so I would need to know how I would have to go about sending the mp3 to you. This sendspace is wonderful. Must thank you for that. Do you know if I can use sendspace to work with someome else with both of us using garage band or another sequencer program? Eh les amis! Je viens de recevoir une lettre d'une copine a Montreal qui est en outremers en bateau a voiles! Merci Christian, let me know.

Re: importing .MID files to GB
Hi Meadowlark, MIDI files don't contains audio so it is normal that they don't sound exactly the same when played on different synths (in this case in GB). MIDI files only contains information that trigger sounds played by the synth, a little bit like a "piano roll" did in the past. It would be helpful to me if you could send me an mp3 so I can find the correct GB patches for each sound. Take care! Christian

Allo Christian, J'ai oublie...if GB cannot mimic the exact sounds as they were recorded what program do you recommend that I purchase which will do the job. I was looking at Logic Studio and Digital Performer but would need something possibly user friendly. And if I am going to invest on a program I might as well get the best for the job. Also you have kindly offered to find the correct GB patches for each sound. Is it possible that you could explain to me as well how to do this? And finally, how do I record the vocals into GB? Lots of tunes in my head! Merci, Merci. Meadowlark

Bonjours Christian, La neige est finalement termine! En tout et partout c'etait pas si pire, 12 pouces au lieu de 15. J'ai hate au jardinage. Thank you very much Christian. I checked the link however and it shows that it is the "delete" link. And it advises me that I will erase the song from sendspace if I open that message. Help! Don't want to mess up all your hard work. Meadowlark
