GB and rewire

I can get Rewire to work with DP or GB on my desktop computer, but not on my laptop. In both instances, I am making sure that I am opening GB or DP first, then opening Reason after the main audio software (GB or DP) is booted. But, I cannot get Reason to boot in rewire mode when doing this on my laptop. It keeps booting up in audio card mode, instead of rewire. I have also tried selecting and deselecting the control surfaces/keyboard preferences in Reason but that does not help. The laptop I am using is a MacBook w/OS 10.4.8, Reason 3.0.4, and GB 3.0.4.
