Glenn, Do you have any affiliation with Apple at all? Is there another 10 years of time available for you to wait for Logic Pro 9 updates and patches to begin arriving and hope for many of the bugs to be cleared up?

No affiliation, other than I've used Apple computers since university (a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away). If I was having a fraction of the troubles that you mention, I'd be bringing whatever pressure I could bear to the situation, in a good-mannered fashion, or not. I would not choose to do what you are doing, though. However, I do not have all these issues; Logic 9 has pre-emptively quit on me once, and I've gotten a few graphic glitches, but that is about it. Otherwise, I have a ball with it.

Hi Glenn, From what I can make out, djwhiterabbit_oc has not actually used Logic 9 and does not own Logic 9! See page 1 of this thread! Have to agree with you, Logic 9 has been working very well aside from a couple of crashes. Best Rounik

You are right, I do not own Logic Pro 9, but I have used Logic Pro 9 at the Apple Store during the Logic Pro 9 workshop, and during One To One training the majority of the issues I have listed in this thread have come up for me and for the One To One trainer at the Apple Store. I do own Apple Logic Pro 8.0.2, Logic Pro 7.2.3, and Emagic Logic Platinum. After paying $499 for the full retail Logic Studio 1 License, the obvious slimmed down proformance, Apple marketing Logic Pro 8 geared towards the average user, why would anyone pay for Logic Pro 9. For a Pro App, it is clearly not pro-focused at all. Apple now see Logic as used by pros, but let's concentrate on selling it to the average msician that just wants to lay down some tracks, etc. Based on on the way Apple disrespects Logic Pro 7 users and their decision to make forum support obsolete for Logic Pro 7, which loyal users paid around $999 for the full retail Logic Pro 7 License I am considering other DAW sequencers to use where there is respect as a user and assistance with their applcation. For example search the Logic Pro 7 Forum vs the current Logic Pro forum and see how much respect as a user and assistance with Logic Pro 7 there still is: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=771&start=0 http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1201 Quote by fuzzynormal "Forum support for 7 is dead?" Quote by Timothy B Hewitt "Stupid. It was much more effective to look for advice for you specific version. This is another way to make older versions obsolete." "Bee Jay wrote: All the messages have been merged into one Logic Pro forum. Quoted by iSchwartz "Seems as though it's not possible to search for anything from the ol' Logic 7 days... Just tried searching by keywords for msgs I posted in there and they don't appear in the search results. Don't know if you remember that long list of score editor requests that I compiled back then, but there were plenty of easy-to-remember keywords from that one... "master list", "pedal", "slurs". Doing a search under my screename turned up zilch.

Logicprohelp.com has only one Logic forum, and I don't seen anyone there whining about it, and it is, as far as I know, certainly not second best to the Apple Logic forum. If you don't like a particular corporate strategy, don't use their products, and write to them to tell them why. Simple. You are grinding an axe. If and when the Logic dog eats my homework, I'll start bitching. So far, it hasn't.

Glenn, It is only a matter of time before the Logic dog eats my homework and you start bitching. Or you just are not being honest about your view of Apple's particular corporate strategy for your own reasons... I prefer the theory that you get what you've paid less for.

djwhiterabbit, Having read and conversed with Glenn on this forum I am more than assured of his honesty!!! If he doesn't like something he is not hesitant in coming forward and voicing his concerns. (sorry Glenn, not trying to speak for you here. This is just my opinion). Maybe mr whiterabbit, with all due respect, you might take some time to consider other options open to you. If Logic isn't ticking the boxes, fine, learn Cubase, Pro Tools or another DAW. The time spent bashing Logic and re-posting on multiple forums (yes I've seen some of your identical posts) could be spent doing something else, that will have a more direct input to your creative and musical talents?

Rounik, Possibly, you are not being honest about your view of Apple's particular corporate strategy for your own reasons because of the direct or indirect affiliation towards Apple this would reflect on you as an Apple Logic Pro Trainer...?

[quote:]It is only a matter of time before the Logic dog eats my homework and you start bitching. Or you just are not being honest about your view of Apple's particular corporate strategy for your own reasons.[/quote] Now, this is interesting; first off, I never once accused you of having ulterior motives, or whether or not you were affiliated with a 3rd party. Yet, here I am, twice, accused of those very things. In psychology, that is called 'projection.' All I did was note that your behaviour is identical to what someone else was doing at the Apple Logic Forum. I have nothing to prove to you or anyone regarding my affiliations, because I am not the one making a pain the ass of myself on various forums in the name of a particular product. Rounik was being diplomatic (something he is very good at, btw) when he said that I am not shy about voicing my 'concerns' when I feel that, for whatever reasons, my interests are being ignored. I am frankly surprised at the tolerance that has been demonstrated toward you in this thread. My good will toward Apple has been on the wane for a few years, ever since I wanted to buy an iPod and it wasn't compatible with a Mac running OS 9, or 10.2.x, I can't recall which. I went out and bought a competitor's product, and haven't regretted it. I get the sense that they give less of a damn about their customer/fan base than they used to, people who can be as loyal as your average Trekkie. When I look at my wife's PC, though, it will take a lot more alienation with Apple's policies before I hold my nose and get a PC. Now, I've wasted enough of my time with this. I wish you well with whatever platform you use to make whatever music you wish. Until the day I lose something precious to me due to Logic's bugs, I am going to have fun making music with Logic. Glenn
