Help creating a Logic template using outboard gear
Hello. I thought I would ask for some experienced input as I'm not extremely educated yet on all the possibilities of logic's environment, etc. My question may be simple as 1,2,3 but I thought I would post what I am doing to see if anyone has any further tips that may help or ideas I haven't thought of. I produce electronic music in logic and am wanting to create a template and connect my studio to maximize the use of my audio interface and a couple pieces of outboard gear. I mainly want to send audio from logic out to FX processors and back into logic for recording. I have a Mackie ONYX 400 F interface, [img][/img] a Pioneer DJM900 DJ mixer with FX, [img][/img] and a novation UltraNOVA synth with FX. [img][/img] In my Logic template I want to have to 2 FX busses created to send/return audio from any channel strip thru my DJ mixer and synth to record the FX performed. Plus, I would like to have the two dedicated channels to record the audio of both busses. Do I simply need to rout ONYX outputs to DJM900/UltraNOVA inputs and then DJM900/UltraNOVA outputs to ONYX inputs? Then create 2 aux busses in logic with I/O plug utility inserts sending them out the respective channels and back in? Plus create two more Aux channels to record those inputs? Any other ideas on how i should setup this routing and logic template configuration? How can I have the least latency and best routing? Thank you!

Hi Play, I think your routing idea seems to fit perfectly! What has been your experience with latency when routing this way? Cheers! Rounik
