how to install the AIFF files to use them in logic? mountain lio
Hi All, How can do I use the aiff files? are they loops, and how do I install the ones I downloaded. The aiff files are bits and parts of melodies, can this be a sample instrument? because that is what I wanted. THank you

Are you talking about Apple Loops of AIFF audio files. You can simply drag AIFF audio files into Logic. This will add it into your Logic project Audio bin and place it on an audio track in Logic. Apple Loops used to be in the AIFF format, but now have their own format (CAF). These files are AIFF files that have been edited with the Apple Loops Utility. When you add an Aple Loop into a Logic projects it stretches to the tempo of the song. It retains its audio quality to a degree as the Apple Loops Utility has detected transient markers in the audio file and has added this information to the meta data of the audio file. Most audio file formats can be added to a sampler instrument such as Logic's EX24 sampler. Open the EXS24 editor and then add the audio file through this editor window. I hope this helps in answering your question.

Hi Gary, Thank you for the reply! It helped me a little more. But now if you can provide the steps if it is not too much trouble. This is what I have done open esx24. Clicked edit at top right to open editor dragged aiff file into the editor and now it just has one key (B5), when I hit different keys on my midi controller keyboard the same sound plays. There is only one key, is there a solution to this? so that I can play the sound with different keys causing a different sound for each key? THank you Gary and all for your time in explaining. Hope to hear from you soon!

also I forgot to mention, the aiff file that I'm referring to when played, plays a range of notes, more than one note.

Hi crusader1, Check out this following articles on building up EXS24 sample instruments http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/logic-pro/exs24-sampler-loader-logic-pro-9 http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/logic-pro/logic-pro-sampler-instruments-exs24[/ur] http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/logic-pro/howto-convert-sampler-track-logic-9 Also if you want to get more advanced with the sampler, definitely check out the tutorial by David Dvorin: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/logic9102 This is explains the ins and outs of the EXS24 sampler. A few tips I can help with though, is make sure you drag the note (B5) onto the B5 on the keyboard in the EXS24 editor. Make sure Pitch is ticked. And then increase the Lo and Hi range under Key Range. You will see how the note expands over the keyboard. Or you can simply hover over the sides of the note on the keyboard and drag either to the right or left to expand its range.
