Sure, you can move your refill to any other drives. It is very easy to do : 1-Open the Browser (Create > Create Instrument...) 2-In the Browser, navigate to the folder that contains the refill on your external drive. 3-Drag the folder (or refill) to the Locations area. You will then be able to quickly select your refills in the Location area of the Browser window. Take care! Christian

so now i feel like a newbie all over again. i have no idea how i overlooked this or convinced myself it wasn't possible.. maybe since the main reason refills have to be in the reason folder.. either way, thanks for clearing that up!!!

Is there a performance gain by doing this? If I understand correctly, Reason doesn't stream any sounds from HD, so I assume not. Anyone that knows, please clarify. Thanks!

Hi Papercut, It depends on the speeds of your internal drive and external drives: http://www.macprovideo.com/forum/audio/propellerhead-reason&id=1561[/url Cheers Rounik

I guess in most cases (all?) that would make the internal faster because of the faster connection with the logic board. But to simplify, let's say both drives were the same speed. I guess my question is whether or not Reason streams any sounds from the hard drive, and if not, is there a benefit by placing it in an equally fast external drive.

Well after a little (very brief) research, it seems that Reason does indeed load refills into ram which means in theory there is no benefits from using an external hd for refills. I'll post the original link again properly just for reference: http://www.macprovideo.com/forum/audio/propellerhead-reason&id=1561 Cheers Rounik

Hi Papercut, No problem. It'd be interesting to know for sure if using an external HD does provide some benefit for Reason anyway, due to the general load times. i.e. Operating system and applications being run from the internal and writing / reading information for project data etc. Cheers Rounik
