Applying tone to duplicated vocal track
Hi! I am not sure of the best way to describe my problem. I have recorded several vocal tracks for a song, trying to get everything just so. Some I have done using the "Classic Vocal," "Dance Vocal," etc., and then the "Tracking Vocal" track has a section that I want to copy to a "Classic Vocal" track, because I hit the timing better. What I am having trouble with is the tracking vocal copied section sounds like the tracking vocal, even when added to a different voice. Is it possible to apply the other voice tone (filter??) when you replace a section? Thanks for any help :)

Hi - The presets you referred to [Classic Vocal, Tracking vocal, etc] are just collections of plug-ins being applied to the recording[s] in playback. So in theory if you copy or move a section of a recording [i.e. a Region] to a different track with a different preset it should take on the tone of the track you moved it to [that's how it works here]. Unless you delivered a very different-sounding performance due to hearing a different preset that was active on the track as you recorded, that's how it normally works.. For example, I recorded a vocal part on a track where I'd selected the Tracking Vocal preset. Then I copied it to a different track, with the Classic Vocal preset, which apparently includes different EQ and an echo effect. When I played the original Region, I heard the recording with the Tracking Vocal preset [as it sounded as I recorded it; when I played the copied Region on the other track, I heard the original vocal with the Classic Vocal effects instead [as expected]..

OK...maybe my volume setting was wonky, bc it just sounded like the other one. Whoops!! Thanks for your help!
