    Cannot record
MIDI: When I press record, the playhead jumps back 2 bars as requested and then moves forward, I hear the metronome, I hear the sound of the synth, I see the 'MIDI in' info in the transport BUT the recording doesn't happen and no recorded object appears on the Arrange page. Audio: When I press record, the playhead jumps back 2 bars as requested and then STAYS THERE. Nothing else happens AT ALL! This is a total freakout! Maybe, when I adjusted the settings from 'No count in' to '2 bars in' I changed something else? I clicked on 'set', thinking that it would set my changes. It gave me a bunch of folders. Since there was not a folder for MIDI info, I closed the page. Did that do it, maybe? Tim

    Re: Cannot record
I found the answer. Apple ship Logic X with Auto Punch disabled by default. Unfortunately, this means that when 'normal recording', it will not work if you are at a part of the song outside of the dark red Auto Punch Locator. If that locator is hidden, you are REALLY screwed. Luckily, I spotted it and worked around the problem by ensuring that the locator stretched from the beginning to the end of the song. Logic Tech Support then suggested I go to Record Settings and tick 'Auto Punch' to enable it which I did. This created an Auto Punch on/off switch in the Transport bar. I then found that if Auto Punch was switched 'off', that it didn't matter where the Auto Punch Locator was or wasn't, I could 'normal record' anywhere in the song. Wouldn't it have been SO much easier if Logic was shipped with Auto Punch ENABLED in record settings? Yes, you might never want to Auto Punch, but at least Logic would work. I complained to Apple Feedback, so maybe that will happen in future updates. Tim
