    Objects overwrite each other
In Logic X, if I record an object (on the Arrange page) and then record another object on top of it, the first object is overwritten. I don't want this. It has never been the case with all other versions of Logic and it does not happen in Olav's demonstration http://play.macprovideo.com/logic-pro-x-the-art-of-edm/6. What can I do to stop this happening, please? Tim

When recording a second pass on the same track, you create a take folder. You can see the other takes if you click on the disclosure triangle at the very beginning of the track. If this is old news to you and there's no disclosure triangle, you may have Replace Mode engaged. At the top of the screen, next to the digital display, there's a series of buttons. The replace mode is the one that looks like a shield, with an X on it. If that is on, turn it off. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Thanks for your reply. There is a button at the top of the screen which can be set to 'Overlap' or 'No Overlap'. 'No Overlap' was set as a default. Aaaaaagh! Yet another counter intuitive, inefficient workflow Logic X default!! I set it to 'Overlap' and it now works as one would expect. Tim

Guess it depends on how you're used to working. I prefer no overlap. I find fades easier to deal with that way, but to each his own. So, I guess, bad for you, good for me. ;-)
