    Hard drives
I have an external 1.5 terabyte Glypth hard drive that's connected via firewire 800 which holds all my samples, and a 2 terabyte external G-drive also firewire 800 that is used for audio projects. Both of these drives are 7800 rpm. The read write speeds on both drives are hovering around 60 and 70MB/s which seems really slow. I don't have a comparison because I never checked them in the past. I have 3 internal drives on the Mac Pro 2010, one is used for backup time machine that reads and writes at 160 to 170MB/s, however the other two seem really slow at approx. 40MB/s. Problems have gradually increased for some time now while using Logic Pro 9 and X with errors about drives to slow or unable to load and higher CPU usage than I think there should be. I read both articles about hard drives Raid 0 etc... but am still confused as to what a decent speed should be on a Mac Pro Quad 2010 model. The articles are what made me start testing the drives. Seems like there has always been something not quite right with it from the beginning but it's been tested by professionals twice and nothing out of the ordinary was found. However no one mentioned anything about drive read write speeds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Joe
