Irrational Meters
Dec 24th, 2007, 04:05
How the heck do I make a 3/3 or 3/6 time signature, or any other irrational meter? I wrote a song in Cubase using an irrational meter a long time ago, but now that I have transferred the midi files to Logic 8 pro I can't figure out how to work on it any more. This makes me a bit frustrated.

And Happy Holidays to all of you :) !! The last version of Cubase that I used was SX 2. This being one of the main reasons that I switched to Mac and Logic (and we here at red dwarf studio have not been happier). I wrote the song in one of the last two versions of cubase vst, and then we never finished it, and then i found it, thought it sounded really cool and wanted to do a new version of the song in Logic. This is when I realized I had written it in a really really weird time signature with really off the wall quantization. Now re-writing it is going to be a chore. I was able to get it somewhat in line with 3/1 24th notes. but even then, some things do not line up correctly. I guess that all I can do is try some different time signatures with different note lengths and play around until I find the closest thing to what i used back when I wrote it. Thanks for the replies! -ben

Feedback Elimination
Jan 16th, 2008, 10:59
For live use, i have my macbook doing all of my vocal effects through logic 8. I have had considerable problems with feedback and was wondering if anyone here knows of any plugins that i could use instead of my almost useless Sabine fbx2400 and the completely useless Behringer feedback "destroyer". Please take into consideration that we use heavy distortion, delay and reverb on our vocals. We also use Sure Beta 57a mics (that supposedly have the highest gain before feedback of any mic) and that we use NO onstage monitors. Any help would be great, especially considering we have not had one person point in us the right direction for years now. Thanks Ben

Re: Feedback Elimination

I am not recording, just direct monitoring, using logic as a live effects processor. The problem is coming from the effects. But all of the noise gates and EQing does not take care of the feedback problem created by the distortion, delay and reverb. So basically, all I am asking is if there is an AU Plugin that acts as a feedback eliminating device (like the ones stated above), and if anyone knows of any other tips or tricks for eliminating feedback in a heavily effected live vocal performance. thanks -ben

Dual G5 only using one processor in Logic 8
Jun 2nd, 2008, 06:25
So... Why does my Dual G5 only use one of the two processors in Logic 8? The one processor will go to max, stop the song from a cpu overload, yet the second processor never kicks in. Please help! U_U Thanks, bp

i think i have figured it out ohmicide:melohman and the ohmboyz running in Logic 8 are causing my syslogd to jump all the way up to 80% cpu usage in order to write to the system log (you should see how many ohmforce logs there are in my system.log file) so basically syslogd was using an entire processor but, i have found out that there are many things out there other than my ohmforce plugz that make other peoples syslogd freak out and use most of their cpu on even new intel multi-core macs fun oh, and i always run the latest osx and logic, and my processor performance has always been set to highest (ever since i read a thread a while back on some forum about it)

I am also interested in a free update to the mainstage video just like the free update from logic 8 to logic 9. After purchasing 11 videos from you guys, and being told that there would be updates (plugins unplugged), i would really hope that you guys would follow through with what you have already told me that you would do.
