I've purchased all of the Logic tutorial programs (except for the video course, as I don't do video editing), and although the training is quite comprehensive, I've noticed one very big part of the interface left out of the courses: The "Running Man," "Chain Links" and "H" icons in the top left corner of the majority of Logic's windows. Certainly the definitions for these features can be found with some simple research, but let's face it: we're here cause we like the way MacProVideo explains things! I'd love to get a "layman's explanation" as to what these icons do, and how they can be effectively utilized. I certainly hope to see these points covered in the near future, as I'm new to Logic Pro (I skipped Express) but am quickly diving deep into this incredible DAW. So, can anyone explain how exactly these work? I'd love to hear from one of the trainers on this one! Thanks!!

Currently I am not subscribed to TNT 303. I plan to be just as soon as I am personally comfortable enough with Logic to where I won't have to do much lot of referencing - where I can sail through it easily on my own. But honestly, with the amount of time I invest playing with Logic, it shouldn't be long before I'm at that level. However, if this matter is covered in the next edition of TNT, I'll be sure to subscribe immediately. I'm sure many of us would appreciate covering this topic. Is there a way I can formally submit that to Steve as a TNT suggestion, or would it be better to let the moderators handle that? Thank you!

Hello all, I'm fairly new to Logic, and have come across a problem that simply cannot be ignored and is causing very big problems for my creative process. Here it is: I audition an apple loop (regardless blue or green) from the Media tap/loops tab. The audition sounds flawless, but when I drag it into the arrange window (regardless if dragged onto an empty existing soft. inst. track, or if dragged onto empty space to create a new independent track) I get the following: "Logical end-of-file reached during read operation...Result code = -39" What this does is when I bring the loop into the arrange window, it'll play ONLY 1 (maybe 2) notes of MIDI data, where MANY notes of MIDI can be seen in the Piano Roll. When I click on the individual notes that aren't playing in the Piano Roll, they still won't sound-off (same applies when striking keys on my MIDI keyboard with the track's soft. inst. is applied). Those notes exist as visible, manipulable data in the Piano Roll, but are "dead." Here's my setup: - 17" Macbook Pro on Tiger 10.4.11 (latest version as of date of this entry). 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo | 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM - HD space: 75GB used | 72GB free - Logic Pro 8.0.0 Installed on the internal drive - Korg KONTROL49 MIDI Keyboard Now this doesn't happen with [i]every[/i] apple loop, but it happens with far too many of them for my tolerance. Again, I stress the fact that the loop can be heard in it's intended entirety ONLY when auditioning in the Media tab/Loops tab, but not when dragged into the arrange window. I don't know if this would be a factor, but I used to own Logic 7, and had purchased all of the Jam Packs. After installing Logic 8, I'm not sure if I re-installed all of those many Jam Packs included with L8 (which would've taken up much unnecessary space on my HD). Whatever L8's default installation method was, I did just that. I cannot find an answer for this anywhere on the internet thus far. Hi all, I'd just like to know what the little white vertical bar that appears on the left of all of my tracks in the arrange window is. It first appeared after I had reset my MIDI drivers. It hasn't affected performance or composition just yet, but I figure it must be an indicator of something. How can I remove it? Also, since I'd reset my drivers, I get a little pop-up when I open LP8 that tells me my Korg KONTROL49 is...basically missing. The pop-up actually appears [b]4[/b] times (after I click OK, it shows up 3 more times, requiring me to click OK through each one). However, my Korg still functions just fine anyway. Any ideas on how I can fix [i]that[/i] problem as well? Thank you everyone! Deep Deon

Logic Express, Super easy fix - mtec is right. If you hold command (just as mtec said, the "apple" key) and click tab, a little submenu will undoubtably pop-up on your screen (if using a PC, the command key would be replaced by Alt). This sub-menu will bring up a list of icons representing all of the apps you currently are running on your computer. The most recent app (the one you're currently viewing) is on the left and it descends correspondingly with the last viewed all the way to the right. [i]Make sure[/i] N.E.D. and LE8 are your two most recently viewed apps, and simply command-tab between the two. Get used to it, and you'll be navigating a plethora of apps in mere split-seconds! I do this all the time (usually with both apps on full-screen setting). Hope this helps!! ~ Deep Deon P.S. This is also a handy function when you have a whole bunch of apps running, and you don't want to have to look for the window containing your desired app. On Macs, the "expose" function also works well for this.

We, the contributors to this thread, certainly don't mean to be annoying. However, our hunger for a Live 7 tutorial is getting intense, and we all know (and love) to turn to MacProVideo.com for our software educational needs. So, do you by chance have any updates on the progress of the Live 7 tutorial (as it was originally slated for a January '08 release date)? I'm especially curious to know who'll be leading this one. Hello, I am in dire need of some guidance on this issue: My lovely girlfriend bought me a [b] Korg KONTROL49[/b] last Christmas so I could use it with Logic Pro 8. The problem is; I have no clue how to use it. Korg unfortunately does not supply any "beginners" advice on their site - they just assume you know [i]all[/i] of the basics, [i]and[/i] some deeper technicalities, about MIDI keyboards in general. This is the very first MIDI keyboard I've ever owned. The only thing [i]I[/i] can use it for is simply striking keys for recording MIDI data, but all of the other features are way too mind-bogglingly advanced for my understanding. This does not appear to be a beginner's MIDI board. I would love to learn how to use it, especially for [b]assigning the faders, pads, and knobs to the functions in Logic Pro 8[/b], but I cannot find any resources for this that don't already speak very advanced technical lingo. I own nearly all of the MPV videos on Logic Pro (even from back when I used LP 7), and I could've sworn I saw a chapter on "learning" functions to your MIDI keyboard, but I forgot where I saw it and cannot seem to find [i]that[/i] tutorial. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to use my Korg KONTROL49 to it's full potential for Logic Pro 8? It really bums me out that I have such an incredible MIDI keyboard, but don't know jack about it. I deeply wish to learn and love this keyboard for all it's worth. Thank you!!
