I am new to this forum - I hope my question is ok. Is there a key command that allows one to insert chords in the global chord track on the fly (like Control K is used on the marker track)? Basically I want to listen to an audio file for which I know the changes and insert them while reviewing the track.

Thanks for your ideas and help - I am not a Logic Power User but I am becoming more knowledge every day - The work flow process that I am using to solve this chord entry problem goes like this: 1. Record the audio 2. Listen to the audio and record a clap track (either audio or midi) in time to the audio 3. Set the key signature 4. Beat map off of the clap track 5. Record a midi piano track of chords to the song as the original audio plays 6. Analyze that track with the Global Chord track analyzer At that point I can add other loops/samples and they adjust to the chord & tempo. I find beat mapping to the clap track easier than beat mapping to the original audio. I am not well versed with the score editor. Would using the J.F. idea be easier than what I am doing right now? Are there other benefits to using the score editor? Thanks

Rounik: I'll give it a try - also, with the way I am working now, I quantize the piano region (where my chord input comes from) to the largest reasonable division so that the chords line up on the grid. Thanks - Lee

I have just started recording short riffs and turning them into Apple Loops (audio and midi). After doing this I notice that the descriptors that I used are not what I really wanted. How do I modify the descriptors after I have saved the loop? Thanks - Lee

I am a bit embarassed to ask this - but I have searched for an answer and come up empty and I can't seem to get what I want. I use Logic Studio (8.0.2) with a midi controller (Studio Logig SL 990) and a Motu Traveller Interface. I want to use a Yamaha VL70 as a sound source for recordings (especially for loops). I can record using the Midi Controller Midi Out plugged into the Midi Input of the VL70 and record audio on an audio track in Logic using the line out as an input source. What I would like to do is to record a midi track in Logic (so I can edit the data) and send that information to the VL 70 and record back into Logic on an audio file with the line out from the VL 70. What I don't know is how to get (set up) Logic to send the information through the Motu Traveller Midi Out to the VL 70 Midi Input. Thanks in advance for your help. Lee

j. I am trying to export midi out of Logic (9.1.3) arrange page, through my Traveller Interface and into a Yamaha VL70 and record back to Logic as an Audio file. I did this successfully (with your guidance) in May of 2009. Today, as I create the external midi track I get "no output" on the bottom left of the channel strip and also on the track title. When I click on the disclosure triangle in the channel strip it shows the port as "off" and it won't let me change to either "all" or " traveller midi port" which it does show as available. When I try and click on one of these, it just brings me back to "off". This is also true for the "Channel" setting which shows "1" and it won't let me change to any other setting. I have been away from Logic for awhile and am now new to the flextime editing feature in Logic 9.1.3. I have purchased and reviewed Logic 104 and it gives me lots of useful information. I am hoping for guidance as a jumpstart to my getting back to work. I record a singer and a guitar on an audio track. I have beat mapped the track and the tempo of the singer ranges between 130 and 150 BPM (sometimes by design and sometimes not). I add a BIAB real drum/bass audio track(s) which I have recorded at about 135 BPM and import as a bass region and a drum region on separate tracks. How do I align the BIAB perfect 135BPM to the singer irregular BPM? Can I align both the bass track and the drum track simultaneously? In essence, I want the singers irregularities to be the gird and align the perfect 135BPM track(s) to the irregular grid. It's pretty basic but I greatly appreciate any guidance to get me going again.

I don't get the message ((WHEN IT ASKS IF YOU WANT TO IMPORT TEMPO INFORMATION SAY NO!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!) when I drag the audio file from my desktop to the original piece. Should I be importing or just dragging - is it the same thing?? Thanks - Lee
