Will Logic 8 run slowly on an old G5 (dual 1.8 with 2 gig RAM)? I am sure that Logic 8 was designed more for the newer Intel based Macs. I'd love to get Logic 8 but not at the price of slowing things down. Thanks.

Thanks Rounik. I will be doing primarily a mixture of soft synths and hardware based synths (which I bounce to audio). My biggest frustration now is running Quantum Leap Gold Orchestra. I can only run about 5-6 instances before Logic starts crapping out on me. I'm then forced to bounce the parts to audio before the arrangement is complete. So you recommend adding more RAM? I have 2.5 gig of RAM right now. If only I had the cash to buy a new Power Mac dual quad core! Thanks for your help Rounik.

Thanks for your help Rounik. I'll experiment. I've tried freezing tracks before but I often would get drop outs in audio on the "frozen" tracks so I really haven't done it since then.

Looks like it's time to get some more RAM! Considering it would cost me about 5 grand for a new Power Mac with the bells and whistles, I think I'll try more RAM first. THanks!

I upgraded to 4.5 gig of RAM so hopefully this will make a difference with Logic. I haven't had a chance to use Logic yet. Hopefully it will mean more instances of my East West Quantum Leap Orchestra!

I'm on section 08. Using The Drumrack Pt. 3 and I'm at a loss. In this section he assigns a hi hat to C1 then 4 separate claps to C#1-E1. Since he has a delay setting and it's no affecting all sounds within the drumrack he illustrates how to eliminate the delay for the claps but keep it intact for just the hat. He selects all the effects then cuts them (command X...I have to use the pull down menu...the key command doesn't work for me) and then he selects the hi hat and pastes it to a small section to the right (just before where the effect chain used to be). When I try to do this nothing happens.When I try to drag it over to this small area to the right I just get an O with slash through it. I do not know how to paste because there are no options to do so. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks so much Christian. It now works! I figured out the problem was that I didn't have "show/hide" devices selected (the 3 black circles on the upper left side of Drumrack. Before, since I didn't have that opened up the area to click on before pasting was not there. So technically I was kind of doing it right before but just didn't have the unit opened up completely.
