How we hear sound is greatly influenced by where we are physically in relationship to where the sound emanates from. Understanding how sound is shaped, colored and transformed by the listening environment is essential knowledge when designing a studio and recreating acoustical phenomena in sound design and mixing.

In this course, you learn all about the wavelength, absorption, reflection, transmission of sound in the real world. You also learn all about phase, polarity and interference and how these physical properties determine why sound "sounds" the way it does!

From there, expert engineer Joe Albano dives into phenomena like Comb Filtering, the Haas Effect, Standing Waves and other phenomena that can impact direct and reflected sound. The final two sections in this course zoom in on Room Treatment and Sound Proofing - essential knowledge for anyone designing or modifying a listening space or designing their own studio.

Fundamentals, fundamentals, and more fundamentals! Yet another masterful, detailed, and foundational course with the mighty Joe Albano at the helm. The topics relating to reflection, phase, polarity, comb filtering, and the Haas/Precedence Effect are particularly invaluable for every stage of audio production. Highest recommendation. A great, informative class if you can keep up. Reading copy, there's no pauses to keep up so you're constantly rewinding. Even if this were an actual class, you'l constantly ask the teacher to repeat himself. If someone's gonna give that many facts in a short period of time, at least publish the script you're reading from. But still greatly informative...

Joe Albano has done another great job in this course! He continues to make the subject matter completely understandable. Each step follows the previous one in a logical and paced manner. The course is comprehensive and no time is wasted on superfluous material. I highly recommend the course!

Another great course from Joe Albano, my favorite teacher on here. If you are new to acoustics, this is gold. Otherwise its still a great review, and you may still learn a thing or two. Very thorough yet easy to understand.
