It all starts with getting your clips into Apple's FCP! This course teaches you the essentials of importing and organizing your clips to make your editing workflow a breeze!
Ben Balser grew up doing media production and music composition from a very early age. He founded the Louisiana Cajun Cutters FCP users group and runs the FinalCutProX.guru website.
Final Cut Pro loves to get you organized right from the beginning. With a little extra work up front, you'll save a ton of time and effort later on! Whether you're importing footage from file-based cameras, DSLRs, tape or even recording live, this course gets you started off on solid footing. Once your footage is imported, FCP Certified Trainer Ben Balser explains FCP's new improved clip management system. Here you learn all about metadata, import analysis, Libraries and Events and more.
You learn how to best use the Browser and the protocol for creating, deploying and managing Keywords. Then there's tagging and organizing clips and all kinds of powerful search and filtering tools to help you find and organize your clips.
Ben finishes up this course with a series of tutorials explaining custom metadata fields, Smart Collections and filtered searches to help you further manage and manipulate your footage.
...and when you finish this course, be sure to check out our complete collection of courses covering all the new features and enhancements in this updated version of FCP!
Excellent course. One of the best MacProVideo courses out there.
My one request would be for Ben to create an advanced course on FCPX project management and exporting of 1 hour and 1.5 hour videos in 1080 P or 4K. Most of the Macs out there can't handle the rendering of even a 10 minute 4K video. Even with 1Terabyte external SD cards, you rapidly run out of space when working with Optimized and Proxy files.
