Elektron’s Octatrack is a hardware sampler on steroids! And no one is better than electronic performer Thavius Beck to explain the ins and outs of this incredible sound-mangling machine. Watch this course to become an Octatrack master.
Thavius Beck is an electronic musician/producer/programmer as well as an electronic music educator who has worked with various artists ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Saul Williams to singer/songwriter Skylar Grey.
Elektron’s Octatrack redefines the art of sampling. In fact, The Octatrack could very well be the centerpiece of your entire studio and live setup… if you know how to use it! In this 3-hour + course, Thavius Beck takes you step by step through every aspect of this powerful and flexible hardware sampler/step sequencer.
Thavius starts the course by going over the Octatrack’s hierarchical structure, where you learn about sets, projects, patterns, banks, scenes, parts, and the different machine types. After covering Elektron’s outstanding step sequencer, Thavius dives deep into sampling, editing, timestretching and slicing audio. Then, you learn how to add depth to your sound with the built-in effects and LFOs, how to do resampling, and how to twist (or completely destroy) the audio using the crossfader. But the Octatrack is not for the studio only… In this course, you will also find lots of useful tips and tricks for performing live!
So sit back and get ready to learn everything about Elektron's Octatrack, and see why this instrument is Thavius Beck’s favorite piece of gear!

Great instructor and very well-structured run through of many common Octatrack use-cases. I only wish there was more coverage of intermediate to advanced features. That's not a knock on this course as it is though, would just be great to have an second course to compliment the first. The instructor is really good at explaining concepts without falling into the easy mistake of making things overly complicated.

This course was fantastic. It explained and cleared up many issues I had come across while trying to learn the Octatrack and incorporate it into my setup. Thavius is a great instructor and keeps these lessons organized and to the point. Wish I would have watched these when I first bought this thing, it would have saved a lot of time and frustration!

After taking this course I was able to navigate my way around the octatrack with ease and began to make music almost immediately. Along with the manual and merlins OT guide I find the videos very helpful to come back to if I get stuck. Thavius beck is great. Highly recommend for new octatrack owners.

Great tutorial Thavius! I wish I'd have had this when I first got the Octatrack, I would have learnt its capabilities so much quicker, possibly would have saved me 6 months of very slow learning. This has helped me see things a lot more clearly though now, so all good :) Perfect tutorial structure as well, the info really sinks in well. Cheers!

Brilliant!!!!
Thavius Beck is one of my favorite trainers at MacproVideo and this course nailed that position even more. He is guiding you through an extremely difficult piece of hardware (read:steep learning curve) - with ease and professionalism. Covering every aspect of what's under the hood.
He simply "retriggered" my love for the Octatrack and the use of it in live-situations:)
