So let's get started: Jeff begins this tutorial with an overview section that explains all the basic concepts and tools at your disposal. From there you'll learn how to set up your project using Locations and Types.

Next up are MC6‘s Bins. You'll learn all about Bin management, viewing techniques and some very handy advanced Bin features to sort and sift through your clips. Jeff then explains how to import everything from simple JPEGs, audio, video and even Photoshop layers. After this section he takes you deeper into AMA (Avid Media Access) and explains how it works with File and Volume linking.

Tape? Yes, if you've got to pull in some videotaped footage, Jeff explains how it's done. He covers everything from setting up a deck to doing batch captures.

Organizing your footage while importing it for editorial is a crucial part of a successful workflow and completion of any project. This course teaches you all the important steps and considerations to take so you keep everything under control. It starts you from creating your user profile if you don't have one, setting up your project format, bin management, the different ways to look at clips and sorting them out plus some more advanced options. Then it actually takes you through the importing, capturing and logging of your footage if you are using tape, and linking if you work with RAW formats. Finally finishes with saving and backing up.

I was a long time Final Cut Pro editor, but recently made the switch to Avid MC. There are many differences between the two programs, so I looked into a number of online tutorials for help, but decided on the MacProVideo series and I'm glad I did. If you are learning Avid, I HIGHLY suggest this series and START with this title (Organizing and Ingesting Media). Jeff gives a number of great tips and insights and he gets you off on the right track in your Avid MC journey. Some of the material may seem a bit tedious and perhaps even boring - but it is essential to learn PRIOR to getting involved with the actual editing tutorials. It was time and money well spent. Thanks.
