So what is sampling and how does Ableton's Simpler sampler work? Well, let Laura Escudè show you!

In this "sampling-for-beginners" tutorial renowned violinist and electronic music performer Laura Escudè takes you through the very basics of sampling using Ableton Live's stock sampler, Simpler. She starts you off with an overview detailing the history of audio sampling from it's nascent beginnings with the famous Fairlight CMI through to software samplers of the present day.

From there you're off to a zoomed-in, zoomed-out look at the Simpler Plugin that is included with every copy of Live. Laura takes you through all of Simpler's parameters from envelopes to LFO's showing you how they work and how she uses them in her music. She discusses the differences between Simpler and Live's premium instrument, Sampler ... and also shows you how they work together!

Finally, Laura, includes a few "workshops" where she divulges the arcana behind her "Cello Wobble" sound and how to use Simpler in an Instrument Rack. Laura then puts it all together with a triptych of videos showing how she uses Simpler in her live performances.

Pretty thorough look at Simpler, though at times delivered a bit coldly. But v. impressed with the track at the end produced solely within Simpler! Shows that even this instrument can be powerful!

excellent way to begin learning the basics of sampler, simpler is just as powerful tool as many high priced samplers out there. This tutorial takes you from being a novice to being very proficient in the instrument.

Great Tutorial! She really explains everything on Simpler, and with an excellent course structure. If you are looking to learn about Simpler without having any previous knowledge, this is your course. And I really enjoy the last video, where she shows how she integrates Simpler to her real job. Pretty cool and inspiring!

Great Work !!! She has explained Simpler's all Parameters in details giving thorough knowledge and explanations how to work with them and how to use them in making ones own music. And, this she has shown in her last video tutorial in this course how she uses in her live performance. She has also presented this tutorial in very good style and touching language that I feel to listen again and again. Tutorial is Excellent.
