Reaktor 6 is here! And so is Brian Cass to show us what's new and how it works! Along the way, you see how to build an instrument with Reaktor's modules! So build a DIY synth now with Brian Cass and Reaktor 6.
Brian Cass is founder of Overclock Inc. A cutting edge production and sound design team working in the trenches of both the music and audio software industries.
There's no one better to teach Reaktor than Brian Cass. Why? Because he knows Reaktor inside and out. Add to that his enormous experience as a sound designer and synthesist and his skill as a professional educator and you've got the makings of an amazing Reaktor 6 course!
You learn everything about the fundamentals of Reaktor 6 and its modular, object-oriented programming system. Brian first explains the geography and anatomy of the Reaktor GUI. Next, you learn about both the Basic and Advanced panels and all the tools that are available for you to program and design a Reaktor instrument.
The final sections of this course are all about building a DIY synth. Here, you learn about the different modules, how they all patch together and how to tweak them into a a real, working synth of your own design! So join Brian and build your own cool synth with Reaktor 6!
I like Brian's soft spoken way of sharing his pearls. I always work through examples while I'm doing a course. It's funny how a series of 3 minute videos can take 2 days to get through. In this course he moves pretty quickly wiring things up and it can be challenging to keep up with. I like that there was a chapter that didn't spell everything out, but made me stretch a bit to apply what I was learning. I don't guess you'd be working with Reaktor if you weren't up for a challenge. The juice is worth the squeeze. I can't say that I got everything 100%. I tried about a half hour to get the Panel index to work in the stacked macro. I didn't see the dropdown list when I clicked the macro panel name. The filter stack switched so the wiring was functional. One small correction... When you're making the custom output fader, you won't find that mixer under Mixers. If you type Amp Mixer in the dialog box it comes up. Overall though, this is a great introductory course. It get's you building and imagining potentials. That also carries over to the way you understand all synth instruments. Brian is obviously very advanced in his knowledge but has a very easy going presentation style.

A nice overview of some of the modules on Reaktor 6. I hope MacProVideo will release many Reaktor courses in the future as this course alone won't get you very far. Still, the presentation of the selected material in this course was succinct and informative. I can recommend this to anyone who has a grasp of basic Reaktor functions and wants to dig a little deeper.
