Apple's Logic Pro offers powerful Dolby Atmos tools designed to take your mix beyond (and above!) stereo. Discover these new tools with trainer and producer Joshua Carney, and get ready to reach new sonic dimensions!
Thanks to the integrated Dolby Atmos tools built into Logic Pro, it's now easier than ever to create, mix and export immersive 3D mixes, ready to be distributed on streaming platforms like Apple Music. The best part is you don't need to have an expensive multi-speaker setup to do this because Logic lets you monitor your surround mix binaurally with regular stereo headphones. In this course by audio engineer Joshua Carney, you explore all the new spatial tools included in Logic Pro, and you learn how to start creating immersive 3D mixes that go beyond, above and even behind the listener's head.
If you're new to Dolby Atmos or new to working with surround sound in general, you may find some of the terminology and concepts confusing. That's why Joshua starts the course by defining the various surround formats and explaining the difference between Immersive Audio, Dolby Atmos and spatial audio. After learning what is binaural hearing and the physics of it, you literally immerse yourself into spatial audio. This is where you learn to position sound around the listener using Surround Beds, 3D Objects, and the expanded surround mixer and panners. You also discover the updated plug-ins that are now optimized to work in Dolby Atmos (like Spaced Designer, Tremolo, and Remix FX) and you even learn a workaround to use 3rd-party stereo plugins in surround mode. Finally, the distribution standards for submitting your Dolby Atmos mix are covered, and you learn to actually upload it and share it on streaming platforms.
So discover the power of Dolby Atmos with Logic expert Joshua Carney, and bring a whole new dimension of life and clarity into your music.
Excellent Course!!! Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio is explain with complete CLARITY. I looked at at least 30 videos on YouTube and none walked me through understanding the process even close to this. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

It gave me the tools to finish my first Atmos mix in Logic which I am now playing back on a 7.1.4 studio. Sounds great! Thanks a lot!

This is one of the few courses on this emerging technology. Really appreciate it. Will there be any updates regarding the new monitoring options in Logic 10.7.3 to monitor using the Apple spatial codec/ renderer. What sort of headphones are ideal for this etc? looking forward to any updates as this subject takes root. thanks - Gus

Great course. It's fair to say that the idea of mixing in surround is kind of intimidating - at least for me it is - but Josh does a fantastic job in this course of explaining how it's different and how to go about doing it in Logic. You should come away from this course feeling quite confident about at least giving surround-mixing a try. Another Joshua Carney gem :-)

This is a great intro to this 'new' thing. Will it take the industry by storm, we don't know. But the fact that everybody can do spatial mixes, at least for headphones, wow!
And the ever competent Joshua Carney encouraged me to try myself...I did! But then: how to deliver, and so on, more Q's than A's. Looking forward to more tutorials on this.
