Absolutely first rate. I have been searching for a really clear, well explained, de-mystification of mastering for literally years. In other sources, I've encountered a tendency to give simplistic and incomplete explanations, followed by an exhortation to get your mastering done professionally, thereby propagating the priesthood of mastering engineers. There is no need for this, you really can do it yourself, and Steve shows you how. The only things missing that most other authors mention, it seems to me, are the importance of listening on a variety of devices (does your song sound good on a cheap radio? On laptop speakers? Ear buds? A high end stereo system? etc.) and also to, if possible, to have a few different people listen to your work. Our ears get accustomed to the same song played repeatedly and we can miss problems that way. But for the pure technical background needed to do your own mastering, Steve's course is really great. Thank you Steve!

Even if you have a later version of Logic this is one of the best tutorials for really understanding the tools for Mastering. Highly recommend for anyone who finds the compressors, limiters and EQ daunting.

Excellent course by Steve H about Mastering audio in Logic Pro. I liked how he give a overview of mastering history at the beginning as well as some practical examples of typical mastering processes. I have been singing that flaming wheels song all day haha catchy to say the least!

When I first watched this course a couple of years ago, I didn't feel like I'd got that much from it. However, after another 2-3 years of audio experience, I've watched it again and feel like I've benefitted far more. The explanation of compression was comprehensive and EQ helpful, though I feel that the course would be improved greatly by including some clips on master EQing, rather than simply problem EQ fixes. The video is about mastering, and in my experience Linear Phase EQ is far more commonly used in mastering; yet nearly all of the EQ examples here use the Channel EQ. I know Martin covers master EQ briefly in 'Core Logic' but some more depth here would be useful. As usual Steve comes across as friendly and knowledgeable throughout (apart from during the extended parameters of the AdLimiter "We can remove the DC, and that's pretty cool" - yet no explanation of that actually means!) and I'd recommend this course to someone with a little prior knowledge of sound and mixing, who would like to know more about mastering.

Great course Steve - really enjoyed it and cannot wait to try it all out. Demystified a lot for me! Thankyou. Could do with a few more 'in music' examples though, so an example of linear phase eq on a song as well as a sine wave - but hey! :-)

This is hands down one of the best courses I've watched yet. It's based on a much older version of logic but that is only about 1% of the course because it deals with tools that are in all modern daws. The rest of it is just a very smart guy explaining essential concepts of digital sound and mastering to you in a very laid back and easy to understand way. I already know I will keep coming back to this course again and again.
